As some of you know, yesterday included a trip to the vampires and some of the usual testing. So, yeah, that tires me out anyway. But then, one of my closest friends called upset and in tears.

Let me say, cancer sucks.

Five years ago, she had to have a hysterectomy because of cancer. This past summer she finally hit her 5-year clear mark. Then yesterday she found out she has breast cancer.

Talk about a slap in the face. *sighs*

So, anyway. My mood still sucks. I can hold onto pissiness like nobody else. But, for Michi, I'm trying to let it go and be upbeat and what have you. We'll see how that works out.

Thanks for the emails. I didn't respond to them all, as some of you told me not to and for once I listened. But they did mean a lot. So, yeah, thanks for that.

I had awesome plans to go to bed with hubby and do the snuggly thing and just forget about my current fic for a while. And then the need to write propelled me out of bed (hubby was already asleep, so it's not like I interrupted anything *coughs*). So here I sit.

Which means, of course, that it's time again for another round of fic bitching! *crowd goes wild*

Character B... oh, Character B. Why must you intimidate me so? Also, what's with the personality disorder you seem to have? Don't you know I want to make you happy in the pants? Cuz I do. I want to make you so happy in the pants that you come back for more (yes, pun is totally intended).

So why, then, aren't you cooperating?

Character A? I'm not sure exactly where you're going with this, but it's unlike you to be reticent. So maybe just cut it out and jump Character B's bones? I realize you're trying to be a better person or whatever, but come ON, man. This fic is due in just over a week and we are at a stand still.

Characters C through infinity? Rock on with your bad selves. I love you all. Seriously.

I'm just tired of refreshing my flist to see that no one's updated.

How am I supposed to procrastinate if y'all aren't posting?!

I have written 1585 words today on my happy_trekmas fic, and basically wrote straight to the end of the "outline" I managed to come up with yesterday.

Which means I'm fresh out of ideas. Crap.

However, I do know how the porn is going to go (fics must be R/NC-17, so I'm not giving away too much by saying there's gonna be porn, lol), so if worse comes to worse I'll write that and just wait for further inspiration on the rest.

Inspiration, however, usually comes in the form of having my hands in water (can't write if they're in water), so I'm going to go clean my kitchen and hope for the best.

Yay. Housework. Yaaaaaaaay.

Did everyone on LiveJournal - yes, I know, it's the bad place - decide fucking lj-cuts were useless today? Honestly, some posts - like those really picture heavy ones - need a cut.

Okay, screw it. I'm just going to ask for the information I need and hope like hell that someone out there, in the recesses of internet deep space, knows the answers. None of this is important to my plot, but you know that as soon as I put the crews quarters on deck 6, I'll get zapped by a ST canon nazi.

Where are the crew's quarters? How are they accessed?

In ST:TNG, Picard has a "ready room". Does Kirk on the NCC-1701 have anything similar to this? Or just some place that he and his senior officers can go to make plans/take classified transmissions from Starfleet? I mean, as awesome as it would be for him to be constantly calling "conferences" in his quarters, I just don't think that's logical from a professional standpoint.

Any help would be awesome.

Tomorrow I begin plugging away at Fic the Second. *happy dance of joy*

I am on track to finish all my fics early(ish) which will be absolutely awesome! I don't normally miss deadlines, but it's always nice to know that I won't be turning in rushed fics. I don't have to rush! Whee!

Also, the best part about the rest of the fics I have to write? My outlines for them make it totally reasonable to bring them all in under 5k each. How awesome is that?!

So, the people coming over thing tonight went really well. Fun was had, house stayed clean. Which means I don't have to do much between tonight and tomorrow when people coming over redux happens. PLUS!!! Halloween! Yay!

I still haven't decided what I'm going to go as. I have a variety of "costumes" to choose from. I suppose I'll just pick something appropriate to my mood and the weather tomorrow.

• Laundry. Must get at least one-two loads done, including folding and putting away. (So that I can hide two more loads in the washer and dryer, heh.)
• Clean bathrooms
• Clean kitchen and sweep/mop, including mud room
• Clean bedrooms and make beds
• Clean off back porch
• Child proof house
• Go grocery shopping for odds and ends (and Halloween Candy yay!)
• Find a new place for dog's cage so she's not right next to the table where we'll be sitting
• Vacuum floors @ 4:30-ish. Clean any spots.
• Make taco/quesadilla-stuffs
• Make Halloween cupcakes (need to have them in the oven by 3 o'clock-ish)
• Marinade chicken for tomorrow's round of guests
• Get some makeup so I can figure out a costume for myself! :P
• Clean out fridge and make kool-aide, tea, and other drinkie stuff

I'm having people over tonight. I figured Mexican buffet-style for munchies. Am I forgetting anything? I don't entertain very often, lol.

So remember how I was bitching about the fic I'm writing and how it was going painfully slow and I was afraid I was going to kill myself to finish it on my deadline?

Yeah, so the bitching worked. Not only have I successfully managed to write a scene per day on the fic (to reach my goal, that was what I needed) but I wrote 2.5k on the fic last night. I am so pumped.

If I bitch more, do you think I'll finish it today?! *g*

You know, it's not often that I sit down to write a pairing that gives me as much grief as the pairing I'm writing now. Part of my problem is that I'm trying really hard to have the relationship evolve in a believable manner, which is whoa!difficult with this particular pairing. I have had the fic open all day; by my reckoning, I wrote approximately one and a half words per hour on it today. And each word was torturous to write.

Even "the".

I'm serious. Maybe I'm thinking about it too hard, but I want this fic to be... Well. "Good" would satisfy me pretty well. :P It doesn't have to be groundbreakingly awesome, though that would be fucking fantastic, but it's a gift fic and as such, needs to be special.

I have 2.5k done; 3 scenes of possibly 7-10, depending on how well things shape up from here. I set myself a deadline of Nov 1 for a complete first draft and I'm going to make it if I have to kill myself to get there.

Anyone else having fic woes? Wanna share?

So, seriously, have I missed anything? Porn? Art? New babies?

So, heard from the Service guy at the dealership I took my car to. Turns out some sort of rodent climbed up in my car and chewed through some wiring harness and that caused all the problems. The transmission looks good, the fluid levels are all good, and I'll get my car back for less than $400.

Rational, logical me understands that the price of getting my vehicle is not bad, when you consider how much looking they had to do to figure out what went wrong (this is something that the diagnostic machine will give all sorts of false readings on), plus the cost of the replacement harness, plus the labor for replacing the wiring harness. It's pretty damn cheap when you figure that.

However, the cheap-ass in me thinks, "WTF?! $400 for a WIRE?!"
